Aug 20, 2010 (newstodate): The Danish handling provider, Copenhagen Flight Services, owned by the Swedish Nordic Aero Group, expects to recruit fresh staff once operations start at Copenhagen Airport.
-We have now been granted the concession as the third company to offer full handling service at Copenhagen Airport, and work is already starting to identify potential customers among both newcomers to the airport and airlines already operating here, says Torben Andersen, Copenhagen Flight Services general manager.
-We are considering handling at all the airport's terminals, including the new SWIFT terminal dedicated to low-cost airlines. But we are not focusing especially on low-cost carriers. Actually the handling costs involved in handling passengers and aircraft remain the same when all parameters are taken into consideration, which in the case of low-cost carrier means no cargo, no mail, short turn-around times.
-Since 1998, Copenhagen Flight Services has offered de-icing and aircraft cleaning services at Copenhagen, and during summer time this requires only five people, growing to some 30 during the winter season. Once we start full handling activities we will of course expand our work-force correspondingly, says Mr Andersen.
