Aug 25, 2010 (newstodate): Future operators of the new the Russian regional jet, the Superjet 100 can now sigh with relief: the engines are finally forthcoming!
The serial deliveries of the SaM146 engine have now started, with one engine already finished and a second to be readied before the end of this month.
The engine manufacturer expects to be able to produce a total of 50 engines in 2010/11.
First to receive the Superjet is Aeroflot as Armavia has retreated from the honour, taking delivery of the second production aircraft instead.
Aeroflot has placed orders for a total of 30 Superjet aircraft.
