Aug 04, 2010 (newstodate): Albania's Tirana Airport is seeing traffic growing - but while passenger volumes are developing very positively, cargo is performing less strongly.
During the first half of 2010 the airport noted a total of 644,914 passengers, up 9.8 percent increase over the same period last year.
14 airlines now operate into Tirana, connecting the Albanian capital to 34 destinations.
The largest operators are Belleair with 44 percent, followed by Alitalia with 12, Albanian Airlines with eight, and Austrian Airlines and Turkish Airlines both with six percent of the total passenger volume.
The carriers operate primarily small regional aircraft, however, so cargo volumes during H1 was only 921 tonnes, up a meager 1.6 percent, y-o-y.
