July 2010 (newstodate): Now a more communicative mood, the Swedish cargo GSA Universal GSA is at last able to confirm that it is indeed to serve as agent in Scandinavia for Garuda Indonesia, sub-contracted by ECS that holds the European GSA agreement with the carrier.
-We expect this traffic to grow also in Scandinavia market, especially driven by the Swedish export market, says Aasa Persson, Universal GSA general manager.
-We already provide RFS between Scandinavia and Amsterdam, and this will also serve Garuda Indonesia that is operating daily Airbus A330 flights offering a total of some 20 tonnes of cargo capacity, of course shared by all European markets.
-While Indonesia itself may not be a major airfreight market for Scandinavian exporters, not many airlines service this market, and Garuda also provides excellent on-ward connections to other destinations, including not least Melbourne and Perth, in Australia, says Ms Persson.
According to Ms Persson, Universal GSA was set up only in May, 2010, with another off-line carrier, Cubana, as its customer, but she refutes claims by other industrial sources that the GSA is owned by the Swedish cargo GSA, NordicGSA, headed by Jonas Drewsen.
