July 08, 2010 (newstodate): The enforcement by July 1, 2010, of the Common Customs Code between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan is creating immediate problems for the air cargo industry.
So far one carrier, Transaero has stopped accepting transfer shipments through Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Kazakh destinations, other carriers will follow, and temporary limitations will also be enforced on trans-shipments to Belarus.
-We are actually in lack of detailed information on this situation and rely on what we can gather from our airline customers, says a representative from the German GSSA, EasternAirCargo.
In Russia, a representative from Transaero seems to be in a similar situation.
-We still do not have detailed information on what is exactly comprised by the Common Customs Code and the effects it will have on the operational level, says the airline source.
