July 05, 2010 (newstodate): Ranking the most prospective markets for Garuda Indonesia, the carrier's European GSA, ECS sees Scandinavia and Finland high on the list.
-Scandinavia has a huge potential for airfreight by Garuda, primarily driven by the large telecom companies Ericsson in Sweden and Nokia in Finland. Both companies export large quantities of shipments to Jakarta, says Adrien Thominet, ECS commercial director.
-Garuda Indonesia has now made its re-entry into Europe with its flight between Jakarta and Amsterdam via Dubai. But this is a first step only. In the plans by Garuda is the expansion of the network with destinations like London and Frankfurt as well as destinations in Italy over the next two years, pending the delivery of adequate aircraft capacity.
-In the Nordic region we have sub-contracted Universal GSA as GSA to cover Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, says Mr Thominet.
