Jun 02l, 2010 (newstodate): After much uncertainty as to the future of the SAS handling arm, SGS, industry sources claim that a decision has been made to keep SGS handling at most line stations in the network.
Expectations were that SGS would only maintain operations at the main hubs, Copenhagen Airport, Stockholm Arlanda and Oslo Gardermoen.
No official announcement to confirm the decision has, however, not yet been made by SAS.
In February, 2008, the fate of SAS Group subsidiaries including SGS was in the balance as chances were that they would be sold off, which was the decision for the cargo handling arm, Spirit Air Cargo, while SGS was allowed a "grace period" to prove profitability in the wake of serious unrest among the staff and unions.
