Jun 16, 2010 (newstodate): The project for establishing a new Swedish cargo carrier, Air Navigare Cargo is still very much alive - but few details are yet available.
-We are indeed working on finalizing the remaining issues, and one of these is identifying the right freighter aircraft for our purpose, says George Myren, who is driving the process together with Hans Jimgren and Jan Nordin.
-We are facing a market with a significant scarcity of aircraft available for lease. Many carrier cut down on fleet during the recent crisis, and most are reluctant to bring them back into operation in waiting for clearer signs of long-term stabilization of the market. In the meantime the ACMI market is over-heating, says Mr Myren.
Another factor behind the belated launch of the new carrier remains the issue of financing that has also not been benefiting from the crisis in the global financial market.
The core market for the new carrier is Norway's export of fresh salmon and other seafood to the Chinese market.
Air Navigare Cargo was initially scheduled to perform its first flight from Luleaa Kallax Airport to China before the end of April 2010.
No new expected launch date is yet available.
