Jun 23, 2010 (newstodate): Slovakia's Zilina Airport sees its future depending on an extension of its runway.
The airport has produced a plan for extending the runway from currently 1,150m to 2,450 m in order to be able to receive traffic with larger aircraft including Boeing 737 and Airbus A320.
The topic was touched upon at the recent AGM, but the issue of financing has still not found a solution.
The airport's only international service today is provided by the Czech carrier CSA, operating two daily flights from Prague with ATR aircraft and code-sharing with KLM Air France and Aeroflot.
