Jun 21, 2010 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Rossiya is sharpening its appetite for a slice of the Scandinavian markets.
The carrier is active in attracting passengers into its network to onward flights to other destinations, boosted by the introduction of one-way fares allowing for combination with other transportation solutions for the return trip.
Since 1990, the carrier's only online station in the Scandinavian region is Stockholm Arlanda, where Rossiya currently operates three weekly flights to St Petersburg on own Airbus A320 aircraft, in addition to code-shared flights with SAS.
The carrier is also active at Norway's Oslo Gardermoen Airport, albeit only through a code-share agreement with Norwegian.
Industry sources, however, claim that Rossiya is mulling plans to launch own flights at Oslo Gardermoen as well, alongside the code-shared flights with Norwegian.
Denmark is still outside Rossiya's key target markets in Scandinavia.
