Jun 02, 2010 (newstodate): The Norwegian helicopter group Blueway has landed a five year contract in Nigeria with an extension option of 2 x 1 years, by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and Shell Nigeria.
The contract is the largest-ever for the company, and has an annual value of 80 million US dollars.
The operation starting in July 2010 will be provided by a JV, Caverton DanCopter Nigeria, owned 50/50 by DanCopter and its local Nigerian partner, Caverton Helicopters.
The contract will initially be operated with a combination of DanCopter's and Shell owned helicopters while the Company successively takes delivery of seven new medium sized helicopters.
Blueway currently operates a fleet comprising 26 Eurocopter helicopters of various types, leased and owned.
The seven new helicopters ordered by the JV will be medium-sized twin-engined AgustaWestland AW139, the first of which will be delivered by mid-2011, with the remainder to follow over a 12-month period.
