Jun 02, 2010 (newstodate): The coming new US airline to offer Transatlantic flights to Europe, Baltia Air Lines says things are on tracks for launch of services later in 2010.
-The FAA team is working intensely on approval by FAA part 121 and certification of our aircraft maintenance procedures, and once process is completed we are ready to launch flights from late summer or early autumn between New York and St Petersburg, Russia, says Barry Clare, Baltia Airlines VP Finance.
-All other conditions have been met, the first aircraft and the crews are ready, contracts have been landed at both ends of the route, and everything expect the final licenses is now in place.
-Besides passenger traffic, cargo will constitute an important business for us as well. Volumes of airfreight between New York and St Petersburg comprise 100,000 tonnes from New York to St Petersburg, and another 80,000 tonnes in the opposite direction, says Mr Clare.
