Jun 02, 2010 (newstodate): Riga, in Latvia, is nor online with direct flights to Madrid, Spain, for the first time.
airBaltic is today launching flights from Riga Airport to Madrid Barajas Airport with Boeing 737 aircraft, throwing four weekly rotations into the market.
Madrid is thus airBaltic' second Spanish destination, after Barcelona.
The new route is one of the 11 new routes earlier announced by the carrier to be launched from Riga before summer 2010, including also flights to Belgrade, Vaasa, Umeaa, Beirut, Amman, Rovaniemi, Kuusamo, Visby and Luleaa.
In this year's expansion program are also 10 new routes for Finland, nine new routes for Lithuania, and four new routes for Estonia.
Also announced to be launched from Riga this summer was flights on a new route to Tehran, Iran, but this was later annulled without any further comments from the airline.
