Jun 18, 2010 (newstodate): WFS, World Flights Services will soon enter the Swedish cargo handling market together with a Swedish partner.
WFS has signed a cooperation agreement with A.S.P Logistic that will serve as its partner at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
-While the agreement has been signed, no launch date has yet been set as we are still in the process of implementing the necessary IT systems, training staff for the new operations and settling other pertinent issues, says Martijn de Regt, A.S.P Logistic managing director.
-As we are now nearing the slack summer season I would expect the start of operations with WFS from late summer or early autumn 2010.
-We will provide solely cargo terminal handling for WFS while the airside loading and off-loading of shipments will be provided by the airport's various cargo handling companies according to their contracts with airlines.
-So far no airlines operating at Stockholm Arlanda have signed contracts to move to WFS, says Mr de Regt.
A.S.P Logistics AB, the Swedish subsidiary of the Dutch A.S.P Holding, took over a new 5,700 sq m cargo terminal, constructed by NAP, on October 1, 2009.
A.S.P, also located with a facility north of Stockholm proper handling an annual total of 36,000 tonnes of cargo, earlier expected to increase to 60,000 tonnes after the move to the new terminal.
