Jun 23, 2010 (newstodate): A row over traffic rights is developing between EU member state Bulgaria and Russia.
Bulgaria Air planned scheduled charter flights between Bulgarian destinations and Novosibirsk in a summer program to start from June 10, 2010, and running till the end of September.
The Russian aviation authorities have, however, denied Bulgaria Air the right to operate the flights that were not included in the list of approved flights.
Tickets for the flights were already on sale in Russia, and the Russian authorities are now accusing the carrier selling ticket to flights that were not approved, while the carrier retorts that the sale was not by the airline itself, but initiated by its Russian agent.
In the existing air services agreement between the two countries, Bulgaria Air is designated carrier from the Bulgarian side on routes to Moscow, St Petersburg, Perm, Samara and Kazan, while S7 is the Russian carrier designated to provide flights from Novosibirsk to Bulgarian destinations.
