Jun 01, 2010 (newstodate): Airbus has won the battle with Boeing over a large new Russian order for narrow-body aircraft.
After a close tender between the two manufacturers, Russia's Rosteknologii has announced Boeing as the winner, providing the offer best suited to the needs of the Russian aviation.
The Russian organization will now begin discussions with Boeing over which aircraft type to order, and a contract will then be signed comprising 50 firm orders and 15 options.
The order was earlier designated for Rosavia, but after plans for this carrier have been scrapped, the aircraft will instead to Aeroflot and the former AiRUnion members to be merged with it.
