Jun 09, 2010 (newstodate): Despite efforts to restructure its network to allow for increased aircraft utilization, the Latvian carrier airBaltic needs extra aircraft for this summer's program.
airBaltic has leased two Fokker 70 from the Romanian carrier Carpatair and one Fokker 100 from the French carrier Blue Line to provide capacity on a number of European routes.
-We do have a shortage of aircraft right now as two additional Bombardier Q400 deliveries, originally scheduled for delivery in June, have been postponed till July, says Bertolt Flick, airBaltic president and CEO.
So far one Q400 has been delivered to airBaltic, and the carrier will receive a total of eight Dash-8 Q400 aircraft in place for the coming winter schedule.
