Jun 11, 2010 (newstodate): The construction work on a new passenger terminal at Armenia's Yerevan Zvartnots Airport, launched in 2008, is progressing.
The new terminal will boost the airport's passenger annual handling capacity from the current two to 3.2 million passengers, and is constructed to resists even high seismic turbulence.
The terminal will be commissioned in 2011.
Work on the airfield and runway systems is also to be completed by the end of June 2010, and will take the airport to ICAO 4D levels, allowing for handling of even the largest commercial aircraft.
Zvartnots International Airport is operated under a 30-year concession with Armenia International Airports, CJSC, owned by Eduardo Eurnekian, an Argentine of Armenian origins.
