Jun 14, 2010 (newstodate): While the future of the Norway-US freighter service Sundt Atlanta Skybridge is uncertain, at least this is a fact: the CEO of the company has left his position.
-I have decided to pull out from Sundt Atlanta Skybridge and I am effect already out, says Arild Jaabaek, till lately the company's CEO.
Sundt Atlanta Skybridge, managed by Arild Jaabaek, was a joint-venture between the Norwegian carrier Sundt Air and the Icelandic ACMI provider Air Atlanta Icelandic, and took to the air on the route from Oslo to New York and Miami on December 5, 2009.
The flights have, however, been suspended since March, and one of the partners, Air Atlanta Iceland, pulled out its freighter for deployment with another customer, leaving the JV without uplift capacity.
Driving the project, as was earlier the case with many other similar ventures, was the huge Norwegian seafood export - but eventually they all folded their wings after some time as salmon airfreight rates seem insufficient to attract aircraft operators in competition with other commodities.
