Jun 18, 2010 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic is seeing its passenger volumes in Finland booming - but the success has its backside as well.
In a recent release, the carrier urges its passengers in Finland to come earlier to the airports due to excessive traffic during the coming summer peak season.
-The strategy of airBaltic is to bring cheap flights to regional airports in Finland, and we are seeing more than 200 percent passenger growth every month, says Tero Taskila, airBaltic COO.
-Finland's regional airports are back to life and growth again, but having more passengers increases strain on airport services. Many of the Finnish regional airports are designed for fewer passengers, but as airBaltic gradually increases the size of planes due to growing demand, service staff find it difficult to handle especially travelers who come in last minute.
In Finland, airBaltic currently serves nine airports Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Lappeenranta, Kuopio, Kuusamo, Vaasa, Oulu, and Rovaniemi.
