Jun 10, 2010 (newstodate): After a disastrous year 2008 that saw the collapse of Lithuania's national carrier flyLAL, traffic is again picking up in the Baltic state.
-The provision of routes from Lithuania's three international airports has now gone up to a total of 47 scheduled routes and 26 non-scheduled routes, says Agne Katkute, Lithuania's civil aviation dept of the ministry of transportation.
-The total of scheduled routes include 26 routes at Vilnius Airport, 18 at Kaunas Airport, and three at Palanga Airport.
-What is needed now is increased cooperation with the neighboring states, and a common aviation strategy for the entire Baltic region, says Ms Katkute.
30 percent of the air traffic from Lithuania is now provided by the Baltic carrier airBaltic, and other important carriers include Lufthansa, Air France, UTAir and CSA.
