May 18, 2010 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Havo Yollari, Uzbekistan Airways is seeing strong results in cargo business from its cooperation with Korean Air Cargo.
The carrier handled a total of 11,000 tonnes of cargo during this year's first quarter, nearly three times as much as during Q1, 2009.
The strong growth is primarily due to the inclusion of two Airbus A300-600F freighters from its partner, Korean Air as part of the JV focusing on developing Navoi, Uzbekistan, as a new Central Asian logistics hub.
Korean Air Cargo freighters on the route between Incheon and Milan, Italy, now stop at Navoi for fueling and interchange of shipments with Uzbekistan Airways, in addition to its three weekly flights between Seoul and Tashkent with Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
Uzbekistan Airways operates its the two freighters on route from Navoi to Delhi, Bangkok and Moscow, later expanding with freighter flights to Europe and to destinations in Asia.
