May 28, 2010 (newstodate): The Swedish ACMI provider TOR Air, operating one Boeing 737 aircraft on a lease arrangement wirh Iraqi Airways, expects "business as usual" for at least one or two yars.
-It is true that the Iraqi government has announced its decision to close down Iraqi Airways, but the process is expected to last up to two years before being completed, and in the meantime our aircraft will remain in service with the carrier on routes in the Middle East, says Torbjorn Winsell, TOR Air CEO.
-As courts in the UK, Sweden and Germany have registered Kuwait Airlines' freezing injunction, Iraqi Airways has understandably decided to lay down its European flights until a new carrier can be established.
TOR Air is now basing its aircraft in Istanbul, together with a total of six crews.
