May 03, 2010 (newstodate): Icelandic volcano ash did not hamper the steep growth in April in cargo volumes at Denmark's Billund Airport.
A total of 4,501 tonnes of cargo was handled in April 2010 - a growth by 33 percent, y-o-y, which was even higher than the growth reported in March, at 28.3 percent, y-o-y.
The growth in April was dominated by the 62.2 percent rise in imports, totaling 2,591 tonnes, against a 6.8 percent increase in exports, to 1,910 tonnes.
After the first four months on 2010, the airport is now seeing total volumes up by 26.4 percent, to 17,451 tonnes, including 9,878 tonnes of imports, up 51.2 percent, and 7,573 tonnes of exports, up 4.1 percent, y-o-y.
