May 07, 2010 (newstodate): After Estonia and Finland, Sweden is high on the list of priorities for the fast-expanding Latvian ground handling provider, North Hub Services.
After launching business at Riga Airport, Latvia, from the start of this year, North Hub Services is now preparing for start of operations at Estonia's Tallinn Airport from June 1, 2010, to be followed by the opening of handling operations at Helsinki Vantaa Airport from July 1, 2010.
NHS has earlier stated its goals of establishing itself at all of the major airport in the Nordic and Baltic countries including also Vilnius Airport, Lithuania, Stockholm Arlanda Airport in Sweden, and Copenhagen Airport in Denmark.
-We have had a visit by NHS to Stockholm Arlanda Airport and have handed out all information as requested, says Roy Trulsson, Swedavia Account Manager and responsible for Ground Handling issues.
-Under EU regulations we are obliged to accomodate any newcomer that adheres to EU regulations for ground handling, and there is room and capacity to include also HNS within the infrastructure of Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
-There are currently five handling providers at the airport, two of which are dedicated to general aviation and US carrier, respectively, leaving three handling providers, SGS, Nordic Aero and Menzies Aviation to compete with NHS if they decide to enter this airport.
-This will of course intensify the already strong competition in the market, but it is then up to the companies to meet the challenges.
-We are not currently negotiating with North Hub Services, but I presume that they are now studying the materials and information provided as part of the process.
-I personally do not doubt that they will make their entrance at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, and welcome them as well, says Mr Trulsson.
