May 11, 2010 (newstodate): Iceland's ACMI provider Air Atlanta Icelandic has secured fresh contracts with airline customers.
Air Atlanta Icelandic and Saudi Airlines Cargo Company have extended an existing wet-lease agreement for one of the Boeing 747-400 freighters operating out of Jeddah.
The lease extension means that the aircraft will continue to operate for SACC for at least another two years.
Further steps have also been taken to strengthen the commercial ties between the two parties.
Thus an agreement was reached to position a Boeing 747-200 freighter to Jeddah as of May 1, 2010, to start operations immediately after the aircraft's release from its former operator, MASkargo.
In another new contract, Air Atlanta Icelandic has signed a new wet-lease agreement with Cargolux covering one of Air Atlanta's Boeing 747-200SF aircraft that will start scheduled services on behalf of Cargolux not later than June 1, 2010, once the aircraft finishes its current charter program.
Under the terms of the agreement, Air Atlanta Icelandic will provide Cargolux with a dedicated aircraft manned with five to seven sets of crew for a period of at least seven months, unless further extended.
-The lease agreement completes our Boeing 747 freighter allocation for this year, which gives us added flexibility to evaluate opportunities for acquiring new Boeing 747 freighters to our fleet, says Baldvin M. Hermannsson, Air Atlanta Icelandic VP Sales & Marketing.
