May 31, 2010 (newstodate): Finnair Technical Services, already strong in the Russian aviation market, is seeing potentials for even more growth in Russia and CIS countries.
-Thanks to our ideal localization vis-a-vis the Russian market providing excellent logistics and a historically founded knowledge of Russia we have been able to follow up on the country's growing imports of western aircraft as to technical support, says Vesa Paukkeri, Finnair Technical Services head of engine and component maintenance.
-3rd party maintenance generates about one-third of our company's revenue, and the Russian market is the single largest part of this business, with Russian airline customers including leading airlines like Aeroflot, Rossiya and UTAir.
-For these carriers Finnair Technical Services are engaged in all MRO activities as to Airbus, Boeing, ATR and other western aircraft types, and we are of course hopeful to get access to the coming new market around the Sukhoi Superjet as well as it enters commercial service.
-The Superjet partners will of course be eager to capitalize on their initial advantages, but as the aircraft grows in number of units and operators we will intensify our focus as well.
-Besides Russia, the other CIS countries are within our prime target as well, and actually these markets are in several cases even more attractive as imports of western aircraft may be less strictly regulated than in the case of Russia, says Mr Paukkeri.
