May 17, 2010 (newstodate): Despite the negative effects from the Icelandic volcano ash on air traffic, Lithuania's Vilnius Airport still managed to grow its cargo volumes in April 2010.
A total of 381 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, an increase by 9.4 percent, y-o-y.
The total includes 116 tonnes of mail, down 6.5 percent, y-o-y, and 165 tones of cargo, up 18.5 percent.
During the first four months of 2010 the airport has handled a total of 1,590 tonnes of cargo, up 21.2 percent, y-o-y.
Mail volumes were 554 tonnes, up 13.8 percent, while cargo rose by 25.3 percent, to 1,036 tonnes.
