Apr 29, 2010 (newstodate): Russia is embarking on a new policy of privatizing even its major airports.
The first major event will be the privatization of St Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport that will go to a private investor on a 30-year contract after a tender process.
The successful winner of the tender, the consortium Northern Capital Gateway consisting of VTB Capital, Fraport AG and the Greek investment group Copelouzos, must invest some 1.2 bio euro in the continuous reconstruction of the airport infrastructure.
The Eurasian Development Bank has thus announced its decision to provide 90 mio USD credit to finance the development of Pulkovo Airport under the new ownership.
The next major airport to go private will be Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport.
