Apr 28, 2010 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Transaero has announced its decision to acquire a total of 14 wide-body aircraft.
The new order comprises the acquisition of five Boeing 777 and nine ex-Japan Airlines Boeing 747-400 aircraft for use on international and domestic routes to Russia's Far East.
The Boeing 747-400 aircraft will replace the carrier's remaining fleet five Boeing 747-200 and four Boeing 747-300 aircraft.
The Boeing 747-200 aircraft are already grounded, and three aircraft will be converted into freighters.
All aircraft will be delivered under a financial lease agreement.
Two of the five Boeing 777-200 aircraft will be delivered in May 2010 already, formerly operated by Egypt Air, and the remaining three are ex-Singapore Airlines aircraft.
