Apr 28, 2010 (newstodate): Schenker expects Russia's air cargo volumes to grow by 6.5-7 percent annually over the next three-to-five years.
Speaking at a Russian conference, Transrossija, Schenker noted that while the world's volumes dropped by some 20 percent in 2010, the decline in Russia was even stronger, but while the world's air cargo volumes increased by about 30 percent during this year's Q1, the increase was even higher in the Russian market.
Schenker, however, sees the slow implementation of paper-less air cargo shipments in Russia as a factor holding back development and hindering a flexible approach to the Russian transport market.
Schenker also noted that the implementation of electronic AWBs within the new customs region formed by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan may drive the process within the Russian market as well.
