Apr 27, 2010 (newstodate): Kaliningrad Khabrovo Airport was left with an unfinished passenger terminal project as KD Avia went bankrupt.
After a tender, the Russian investment corporation VIP Group and Germany's Hochtief has now been awarded with the contract to finish the project that requires investment of some 200 mio euro.
The first stage of the project was completed on November 27, 2007, but the completion of the second stage was brought to a halt by the carrier's demise from April 7, 2009.
With the second stage completed, the airport would be able to handle up to nine mio passengers annually.
