Apr 21, 2010 (newstodate): Troubled Hungarian carrier Malev saw its profits further reduced by the recent returning to the owners of its fleet of five Fokker 70 aircraft.
-After more than a decade of utilization, the fleet of five Fokker 70 aircraft was grounded and returned to the owner, the AWAS Leasing Company.
-Over the years Malev did not build up reserves to finance the costs of redelivery, and it did not plan for the costs of maintenance expenditures and investments made in these airplanes, says the carrier in its release on its performance in 2009.
Three of the ex-Malev Fokker 70 aircraft are now operating for Carpatair.
