Apr 08, 2010 (newstodate): Tajikistans first privately-owned airline, Somon Air has added another Boeing aircraft to its fleet.
The latest addition is a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, leased from the Czech airline Travel Services, part-owned by the Icelandair Group.
Based at Dushanbe, the aircraft fleet of Somon Air now comprises three Boeing 737-800, and two Next-Generation Boeing 737-900ER are slated for delivery from the manufacturer in 2011 after the order was placed in March, 2010.
The carrier performed its first commercial flight on February 5, 2008, opening up with services to Moscow and later, on July 29, 2009, adding services to Frankfurt, Germany, as its first flight into Europe, where Aircargonet International is serving Somon Air as its cargo GSSA.
