Apr 13, 2010 (newstodate): Prior to its opening by June 1, 2010, of a new base at Tallinn, Estonia, the Latvian carrier airBaltic is already reportedly planning for the opening of yet another new base in Finland.
According to reports in Finnish media, airBaltic is considering the opening of a Finnish base at either Tampere or Oulu before the end of this year.
The projected base would require significant investments and acquisition of three to four new aircraft to augment the carrier's fleet.
airBaltic has earlier singled out Finland as an under-served air transport market, and Helsinki is also high on the list of new sites for introducing ground handling services by the Latvian provider North Hub Services.
