Apr 16, 2010 (newstodate): DHL is targeting the western part of Denmark in a new offensive to gain market shares.
The offensive builds on the introduction from April 6, 2010 of a direct Boeing 757 freighter service between the DHL European hub at Leipzig and West Denmark's leading international airport, Billund Airport.
-This allows us to expand the production-window of our customers by up to two hours every day, says Michael Hovgaard Poulsen, DHL Express commercial director Denmark.
-In concrete terms, cut-over time for export shipments has been extended by 80 minutes, and import shipments are now with the conseignee up to 45 minutes earlier, which should allow business companies in Jutland and on the Funen Island to gain a competitive edge.
Also part of the offensive by DHL is the construction of a new terminal near Fredericia, and the expansion of an existing terminal at Stilling, Jutland.
-For DHL we expect our market share to increase, and our growth to attain two-digit levels from now, says Mr Hovgaard Poulsen.
