Apr 12, 2010 (newstodate): The Croatian airport Osijek, near Vukovar, is hoping to see traffic returning this summer.
The airport handled only 20,00 passengers in 2009, and plans by Ryanair to set up traffic proved only a temporary success.
Plans are, however, on the table for a resumption of flights by Ryanair between Osijek and Frankfurt Hahn from May, 2010, and the airport is also in negotiations with other operators in the charter segment.
The airport, equipped with a 2,500 m runway, earlier worked hard to attract cargo traffic, especially targeting the perishables market between Africa and Europa, but with no lasting success.
