MAr 19, 2010 (newstodate): Sweden's Luleaa and Visby, in the far north and the southeastern parts of the country, respectively, are to get their first-ever direct flight connections to Riga, in Latvia.
The Latvian carrier airBaltic has announced plans to set up flights on route from Riga to the two destinations in Sweden during this summer's schedule, from the start of June, 2010.
In 2010, airBaltic has so far announced eleven new destinations from its Riga hub including Madrid, Belgrade, Vaasa, Umea, Beirut, Amman, Manchester, Rovaniemi, Kuusamo, Visby and Lulea.
Flights from Riga to Tehran, Iran, were also announced to be launched from June 8, 2010, with three weekly rotations with Boeing 737 aircraft, but this destination was soon removed again without any further information provided by the carrier.
