Mar 05, 2010 (newstodate): Tajikistan's privately-owned carrier Somon Air has placed an order for two Next-Generation Boeing 737-900ER aircraft.
The airline currently operates two wet-leased 737-800 aircraft on routes from Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to destinations in Russia, Germany, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
The carrier performed its first commercial flight on February 5, 2008, opening up with services to Moscow and later, on July 29, 2009, adding services to Frankfurt, Germany, as its first flight into Europe, where Aircargonet International is serving Somon Air as its GSSA.
The new aircraft ordered will become the first owned aircraft in Somon Air's fleet.
