Mar 02, 2010 (newstodate): Sweden's Malmoe Sturup Airport, in the country's southernmost part, has seen cargo volumes down in 2009.
The airport handled a total of 24,785 tonnes of cargo against 29,297 tonnes in 2008, a decline by 15.4 percent, y-o-y, bringing the airport back to 2003-levels.
In 2007, however, volumes at the airport grew by 58 percent to 60,102 tonnes, but the retreat from the airport from the start of 2008 by the Malaysian carrier Transmile's 1-2 weekly flights that generated some 20 percent of the airport's air cargo hit hard.
