Mar 03, 2010 (newstodate): Slovakia's civil aviation is again hit by crisis.
Latest to fold its wings is the carrier Air Slovakia that has had its AOC revoked on March 2, 2010, by the Slovak ministry of transportation as the airline is no longer in a financial position to secure operations.
This is the third Slovak carrier in a trow, after the demise of SkyEurope and Seagle Air in 2009.
In October 2006, UK Indian-born resident Harjinder Singh Sidhu took ownership of Air Slovakia, and the carrier since developed operations in the charter and ACMI segments.
Based at Bratislava, Slovakia, Air Slovakia has been operating own scheduled services between Amritsar, India, and Italy and Spain and had plans for further expansion.
Air Slovakia operated a fleet comprising four Boeing 737 and one Boeing 757 aircraft.
