Mar 11, 2010 (newstodate): Serbia failed in its latest attempt to attract bidders in the tender in 2009for privatisation of its national carrier JAT - but a solution to the airline's future is still needed.
As no airlines eventually placed a bid for JAT, the Serb government is still seeking potential partners to support the ailing carrier, and the country's minister of transportation has told Serb press that a decision will be made before the end of this year.
Among airlines that have earlier showed interest in cooperating with JAT is Turkish Airlines that in late 2009 approached JAT with offers of partnership that would also help JAT to renovate its obsolete and aging aircraft fleet.
