Mar 23, 2010 (newstodate): The Serb carrier JAT has worked out a plan for revitalizing its aircraft fleet, part of which has been on the ground for years.
The carrier has a total of 17 aircraft in its fleet, including one Boeing 737-200, ten Boeing 737-300 and one Boeing 737-400 and five ATR72.
However, four aircraft are grounded including one ATR72 and three Boeing B737-300 aircraft, while a fifth aircraft, and ATR72, was earlier grounded but returned to commercial service again from March 2010.
The grounded aircraft will now undergo maintenance work and return to commercial service in time to boost the carrier's summer traffic capability.
Still looming is the delivery of two Boeing 737-700 aircraft from Turkish Airlines, but this has been delayed by lack of financial security to warrant the leasing contract.
