Mar 05, 2010 (newstodate): Latvian carrier airBaltic has taken full ownership of Baltic Cargo Center, at Riga Airport, now branded as BalticCargo.
Formerly owned jointly by GlobeGround Berlin, 45 percent, SAS Cargo, 45 percent, and AirBaltic, 10 percent, the cargo terminal is now 100 percent in the hands of airBaltic.
The cargo business, managed by Oleg Korshe as general manager, saw its volumes, trucked and flown, up by 30 percent, y-o-y, in January and February 2010.
-This marked growth is primarily secured by transfer cargo that now constitutes 62 percent of total volumes, while air mail is also growing at a fast pace, says Mr Korshe.
