MAr 25, 2010 (newstodate): Effective from March 30, 2010, WIZZ Air plans to launch twice-weekly flights on a route between Poland's Lodz Airport and Dortmund, Germany.
The new route is seen as a result from cooperation between Lodz City and Lufthansa Consulting since 2008 to provide an in-depth market positioning strategy, a traffic development concept and a marketing action plan for the airport.
The most important project objective, the creation of an Aviation Marketing Department within the citys administration, has been achieved with the support of the German aviation consultants, who will continue the assistance to increase air services to and from the central Polish airport.
The runway at Lodz Airport, one of the country's smallest, was extended to 2,500 m in 2007, and besides WIZZ Air traffic is also provided by other low-cost operators including Ryanair and Jet Air.
