Mar 30, 2010 (newstodate): Plans are underway for the formation of a new Russian carrier in the Krasnoyarsk Region.
The region has been under-served with air transportation since the demise of the carrier KrasAir that was leading the AiRUnion airline alliance that came down in 2008.
In cooperation with the large nickel conglomerate, Norilsk Nickel, the regional government will reserve funds in the budget for the formation of the planned new carrier, and the carrier Nord Air will take part in the process.
The parties will also undertake the redevelopment of Krasnoyarsk Yemelyanovo International Airport with new state-of-the-art technical equipment, and plans also include the setting up of a new aircraft maintenance base at the airport.
The proposed new carrier will expectedly take to the air from next spring, 2011.
