Mar 17, 2010 (newstodate): Realization of plans for the new Swedish cargo carrier under formation, Air Navigare Cargo hinges on commitment from the crucial Norwegian salmon export market.
None of the parties behind the former venture with Korean Air Cargo seem to be involved in the new project and deny any connection to it.
-I am at least positive to the idea as there is definitely a need for freighter uplift capacity from the northern production sites in Norway, says Robert Jakobsen, Meyership AS who was also involved in the project with the Korean freighter on the trucking side.
-It is obviously very time-consuming to truck the shipments destined for the Far East from northern Norway to Oslo, Gothenburg, Copenhagen or even the continent.
-Instead, it makes sense to fly out of Luleaa Kallax Airport, in Sweden, and we are very positive towards this airport.
-Among the crucial issues is the choice of an airline that will dedicate its efforts to the service, which means that a commitment from the exporters will be needed, as will also commitments from other exporting industries in the region, and freight to secure the return trip as well.
-In the longer run I have no doubts that we will eventually see a freighter service from Luleaa Kallax Airport, but when it will come is more difficult to predict, says mr Jakobsen
