Mar 24, 2010 (newstodate): With the opening of the new airBaltic base at Estonia's Tallinn Airport by June 1, 2010, the road into Estonia seems open for the expansion by the Latvian ground handling company North Hub Services as well.
High on the list of priorities of North Hub Services is expansion into new Nordic and Baltic markets, and North Hub Services has earlier told newstodate that a move into Estonia will be made in 2010 to break the existing monopoly by the airport's own handling company, Tallinn Airport GH.
According to industry sources, Tallinn is however not too keen to see competition in the airport's ground handling, and this may temporarily slow down the pace for North Hub Services.
Launching handling services at Riga Airport from January 1, 2010, North Hub Services was set up in August 2009 by Baltijas Aviacijas Sistemas that is also behind the Latvian carrier airBaltic.
