Mar 15 ,2010 (newstodate): The leading Kazakh airline Air Astana is aiming at getting enhanced access to the US air cargo market.
Air Astana has named Strike Aviation its cargo GSA in the US market with effect from March 12, 2010.
The carrier itself offers no direct flights between USA and Kazakhstan, but offers capacity from North America to Kazakhstan via its partnerships with other airlines connecting to Air Astana's route network including Amsterdam, London Heathrow and Frankfurt in Europe.
From these European destinations Air Astana provides flights to Astana, Almaty, Atyrau, Aktau, Uralsk in Kazakhstan, as well as to Baku in Azerbaijan and Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan.
The main cargo market between North America and Central Asia consists of equipment and other shipments relating to the extensive oil exploration and drilling activities.
Astana currently operates a total of 21 aircraft and plans to increase fleet size to a total of 34 aircraft by 2014.
