Mar 12, 2010 (newstodate): Icelandair is reportedly planing for acquisition of new aircraft for its medium-haul traffic.
In the plans is the acquisition of up to three new Boeing 737-800 aircraft for the more dense European flights, as well as Boeing 737NG aircraft with fewer seats.
The airline currently has a total of 22 aircraft in its fleet, 20 of which are Boeing 757 aircraft including five freighters.
The airline has also placed orders for a total of four Boeing 787 aircraft, but it is uncertain if the carrier will operate the aircraft itself, or place them on leasing contracts with other airlines.
